It seems crazy to spend $150 on water heating but sitting on the stove is really nice. However, we had teapots of a different quality and they were tarnished and dirty. I did that in between times with water or washing-up liquid and dried it. The coat looks like new after 2 months of daily use. -- We take it off the stove while cooking to avoid splattering. As far as functionality goes, there are a few things to keep in mind. 1. Does NOT whistle, which I like. 2. If allowed to boil, the water will get VERY hot as the lid and spout increase the pressure (I teach physics - higher pressure causes water to boil at a higher temperature) so we'll turn it off when we start, to see steam. . 3. FIRST, the handle is very hot, BUT the design of the handle makes it cool down pretty quickly. Just be careful and you will understand. Some have mentioned how hot the pen is, but they must have grabbed it right away, in which case - use a pad or glove! Therefore, in our opinion, the style and function are superior to anything we have ever used from well-known standard brands. - Mayhem! (No, I swear I don't work for this company, I teach.)
