These are strong and attractive handles. I used the flat part as a guide for drilling and installing. They sent several different sizes of bolts for each door size. One thing I highly recommend is using gloves when tightening the screws with the hex wrench that came with the knobs. I crushed my fingers on the flat side of the buttons, it's pretty hard. I found a piece that matched the screw and used a drill to tighten it after cutting my fingers pretty badly.
