Review on Windward: Master The Skies With This Strategy Board Game For 1-5 Players by Sean Julian

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's fine on my review.

I'll jump right into it:Pros:-There is a good amount of strategy involved but no so much it would scare you away from playing with more casual board gamers-I thought all the components were pretty nice-I'd consider it a medium difficulty game, so there is something there for beginners but enough to keep people that like more complex games interested-I love the theme of the game.-It's fairly quick. Depending on group size you can finish in between 1-2 hours.-Setup and tear down are pretty easy so it's something you could play on a weeknightCons:-The rulebook is not great. Several times we had situations come up that we couldn't find a clear resolution to and resorted to "our house rule is this interpretation."-I think the game has some balancing issues. For example, most of the action is going to occur around killing the smaller grey crestors vs all of the actions required to prepare to fight and process a red crester. The couple of times I've played through the game that was the much better strategy, so much so that anything other than that felt like you were extremely behind.-The combat mechanic of the game feels pretty boring to me-In a 2 player game, player interaction felt pretty minimal. It was mainly a race to see who could process the fastest. Losing in combat wasn't punishing enough to really worry about ending your turn vulnerable at sky.Summary:It's a good enough game, especially for the price point, but I'm having a hard time finding any desire to get it out during a game night when there are much better games out there.
