Major Design Error

I like how the sailor holds the kayak when the strap is tight. Works very well. Tested under hard braking with no skidding. The problem with excessive flexing is that the mounting system will be displaced by the load, thus creating a torque that rotates the stanchion about the cross member. I have square poles and thought they would be fine, but every time we load the kayak we flip the glider back to the upright position. Huge design flaw that needs to be fixed. We are considering switching to a different system. For that much money and for the name of a good company, they have to point out to a mechanical engineer that they are kayakers themselves. The solution would be to move the load so that it is centered on the bar. This would mean that a different clamping system would have to be developed. These are pretty simple things, and we had no problems with the last generation. I'll post the same for handroll racks. Exactly the same problem.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
