Great gadget that takes the guesswork out

I'm renovating the entire house and replacing all the cheap luan hollow doors with solid maple door panels to make my own maple door jambs. This tool is great for drilling doorknob holes! There is a small window in the corner of the bracket so all you need to do is make a small pencil mark on the edge of the door where you want the handle to be centered. Then align the window with the arrow (there is another small round window) and pinch it. The clamp is strong and secure. The included hole saws easily cut through the door in about a minute with my cordless drill/driver. I haven't had to replace them yet. So far I've hung 7 doors and there's more to do. To replace the bits after cutting out the big one first, I use a large flathead screwdriver to pry out the wood core. Then I flip the bit over, insert a screwdriver into one of the slots on the hole saw, hold it, and slowly insert the bit. This will loosen the drill bit from the shank and make it easier to remove. And since the racket is hot, don't burn your hands. By doing the same after using the small nozzle, it can be easily removed. I've also found that the smaller bit works best if you remove it once or twice when cutting. It doesn't handle the sawdust ejection as well as the big one. Even when using a larger drill, make sure to cut almost completely through on one side and then switch to the other side, at least scratch. door a little. This will prevent chipping on the opposite side of the door. At first you'll think the handle on the clamp is in the way, but if you move the bit there it will work. I only cut about 1/8" and then went back to the original page and finished the cut. I've found that this keeps a burr from appearing where the two cuts meet (but even then it doesn't matter ).The only reason for a star deduction is that black plastic shavings come out of the pilot hole in the mount with every use.I'm afraid it will eventually become unreliable as the pilot hole may have gotten too big But like I said I got it Used 7 times already and if I need to buy another one I will.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
