This alternator replaces an old (and I mean a lot of junk) Latrical alternators. For my Jeep so that I can power the radiator fan, headlights, heater fan, wipers, stereo, etc. The alternator was supplied with a test chart showing output amperage and output voltage over various RPM ranges. As usual, it makes a little noise when the fan is closed, but it's quite tolerable. There is a slight electrical hum that is easily corrected with a proper ground circuit. From idle to highway speed, this alternator works great. While the Latrical alternator was little better than a standard 35 amp alternator (and felt hot enough to burn your fingers), this alternator stays cold even at full load. I highly recommend using a "3 wire" setup with a load. Sensors and field power cables are connected.
