Review on 🚴 High-Performance Queen Bike 50mm Carbon Fiber Road Bike Clincher Wheelset for 700c Racing Bikes by James Nedumaran

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Incredibly good offer. Previously

10/26/19 Update - 1300 miles - I have switched my indoor riding to the Smart Trainer but have put over 1300 miles on these bikes to date. with zero problems. They are still ok, the bearings turn well, the hub still works, the braking surfaces are ok. I cannot recommend these wheels enough. Hopefully next season will continue! They are as good or better than any other wheelset I have ridden in the last 30 years of road cycling. I've made some very hard stops on them and the braking surfaces still look good with no signs of wear. After 500 miles I still can't recommend these things enough. You are the real deal. Will update again in 1000 miles. They improved my overall speed by almost 1.5 mph. They will blow you over a bit in very strong crosswinds, but nothing will be strong enough to make you lose control. As others have said, at speed they have a unique, almost whirring, sound. My guess is that it has to do with the design of the rim, which acts almost like a drum, amplifying the tire noise. Will update again in 500 miles. 05/27/19 - I bought these wheels which turned out to be a super team 23mm wide x 50mm deep and came with Powerway R13 hubs which are said to be slightly better than Novatecs I've read about. The box arrived in perfect condition and both bikes looked great. All bits included were neatly packed in another small box. The tires are easy to mount and I recommend using 80mm valve tubes. I didn't have them (ordered a few) so I used the regular 48mm pipes and the included valve extenders. Tip: When installing extensions, wrap tape around the threads of the valve at the extension attachment points to secure the extension to the valve. If you don't do this, you will never be able to inflate the tire because the air will blow past the extension where it attaches to the valve. Anyway everything was installed great, no clearance issues on my bike, included brake pads installed and disengaged. I drove 30 km. The first thing that struck me is that these wheels are stiff! In the best case. I'm 500 pounds and they don't wobble at all even on pretty steep climbs and a few standing sprints. They also feel like they soak up road noise better than my old wheelset, although this may be due to the wider rim allowing my 25c tire to get a little fat. They are 50mm and I was coming from a 28mm rim but I never noticed anything crazy. One strange thing I noticed: they are 200 grams lighter than my old wheelset (Neuvation M28 Eros) but they feel a bit more sluggish than the lower profile wheels during sprints. It could be the higher profile, or who knows, maybe it was my imagination or I was riding on tired legs. I know that on a breezy, windy day in better conditions I was able to add about a half mile an hour to my last ride on the same route, so I'm optimistic they will only help my speed. Definitely after the initial assembly and ride. I have to say these wheels are insanely good value for money. I've done a lot of research and like everyone else was hesitant to buy Chinese made carbon wheels, but a lot of research has pointed me out that most of these wheels are made in the same factories as their more expensive counterparts. . I've also seen that on both Revain, Ebay and the myriad bike forums I visit, the positive reviews MUCH outweigh the negative ones. We all know that people with negative experiences are far more likely to leave reviews than people with positive ones. So I give them a solid 5 stars. for now. We'll see how they handle the season and I'll update them once I've racked up more miles on them.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
