Very easy to attach the gas cap with the lanyard. My previous one fell off yesterday afternoon when I was replacing the gas cap actuator for my gas tank. I think 104 degrees is the max for a rubber cord. I had to remove the rubber plug that attaches it to the gas cap and when I got a needle nose pliers; The loop at the end of the lanyard just broke and fell to the ground. (I think the whole lanyard was dry rotted) Inserting the plug into the new lanyard hole was easy, and attaching the plug to the fuel door latch was easy as well. Just tighten the cap; closed the door; and I was ready to fill my tank. There were no warning lights or horns on my instrument cluster. Do it yourself until you drop! I don't know what "transparency" means for this article?!
