This hub, while dated and ultimately a poor choice for a networking device, serves a purpose if you're an IT pro. Like a real "hub" and not a "switch", it's just a multiport repeater. This allows you to intercept network traffic without having to buy an expensive Cisco device or other port mirroring device. I don't recommend leaving it connected all the time, collisions are not a good thing. But if you're wondering what's going through your network, this is a good cheap tool that gets the job done.
