Review on KitchenAid KO321OHERA Gourmet Etched Grater by Brittany Webb

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice and sturdy, with a flat surface for more contact, great for ginger, peel and garlic!

I like this grater. I have 5 flat micro graters including a fine grater and this one from KitchenAid works much better. What I particularly like is that the metal it's made of is flat and very hard, you have a lot more grinding surface, it doesn't bend under pressure or clog with hairy ginger like the Microplane does. My microplanes are very thin and push inward when you push hard, and their slightly curved surface gives you less contact. I love the KitchenAid's long, sturdy handle, it gives you plenty of leverage and makes it easy to use. All of these types of graters work best when you work quickly and run your item diagonally across the blades, rather than straight up and down. This works great with ginger, garlic, zest, and anything else you want to get the consistency of a paste. Just quickly grate the ginger or something diagonally and tap it on the counter to loosen whatever's on the bottom. You can also take it to the stove and pat directly on the pan. It is easy to clean with a soft brush, soap and water, just brush in the opposite direction of the rust. I love that it has a hard plastic frame so I can use it directly on my countertop and not worry about scratching surfaces. If you have this and don't like it, try diagonal, it works like a champ. Yes I would recommend this grater, it works really well. I made a video but it won't be published, I'll try to add it later, just photos for now.
