Need alternator for my solara after horrible howling signaling impending death. With the right tools and after watching a few YouTube videos, this job took less than an hour. The generator fits like a glove and no longer whines. I went to Harbor Freight and got a serpentine belt tool kit (P/N 63689) for about $18 which made the job a lot easier. Tip: Use a short 19mm socket and a short 3/8" extension. I couldn't find a long head. Bonus tip: every time you disconnect the battery, the car computer will reset to factory settings, which means it will spike to 500 rpm, causing the engine to stall. Quick fix: Start the engine and gently step on the accelerator, bring the rpm up to around 700 or whatever you like. Hold it for a minute, then apply the brake with your left foot while maintaining 700 rpm. Turn on the air conditioner and hold the gas for another minute. Put the gear back in park and let go of the accelerator, it should stay at 700 or whatever you set it to.
