Review on W6EP 6 Inch Diamond Whetstone Sharpener: Achieve Razor-Sharp Precision by Brandon Plowden

Great stone for kitchen knives

I already have a DMT FWF Diafold Diamond Whetstone Sharpener Fine which is great for getting started with a very dull knife. But that's a small course for daily sharpening. Fine tuning with this super fine stone and a few strokes with steel will make your kitchen knives very, very sharp! In fact, the first time my wife went right through the lemon with a sharpened knife, she cut her finger. I warned them, but I haven't had a decent sharpening stone in a long time, so the knives were a bit weathered and not as sharp as they should have been in a long time. The plastic box it comes in is pretty much unusable. I suppose you could bolt it to a workbench, but there's no room for it in my workshop. I use it for storage. Why buy a desktop brick and not a folding version? Well the folding version is good but the hinges are a little flimsy so it flexes a bit towards the end of the brick. This larger block is easier to use, although you have to press one end against the stand when sharpening. The diafold versions are great for camping where you need to carry things, but the desktop versions are much easier to use in the shop or in the kitchen with your big chef's knives.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
