Pick up a pair of quality sheet metal cutters for $18-$27.

You are amazing. It sucks. I found I could cut them with metal snips or wire cutters. And then use pliers to bend the bent part. It saved me so much time and got rid of all the metal mess. I hang them on almost every door in my house. I did 7 or 8 of these in one night. With a hand saw for metal this would take about 7 hours. With wire cutters and pliers it took about three hours. They've only been up for two weeks and the owner is jumping for joy at the reduction in pests like shifters, cobwebs, inchworms, centipedes and all. Plus depth. I mean, we have these rubber things under the doors, but there's still a gap, and these batards always fit in. The tape on the drill will help me and of course will keep the sweep as a guide. I made holes and screws one at a time to ensure the sweeper is flush with the floor. And I didn't want any extra holes messing up the doors etc. Sometimes when you cut your piece, the hole ends up in the wrong place. As if the wood seems to weaken your door. So you need two drill bits to drill new holes where you need them. Tiny tiny. And one for 1/8 inch. Drill small drill bits first. I initially had trouble with large drills. So make a small drill first, then switch to 1/8" to make the screw fit. Keep a vacuum handy to pick up all the junk you make in each door. I also have an 'open' !" Green scissors for fine-tuning the wipers. Essential household scissors for opening unopenable plastic packaging. Revain boxes, etc.

Pros
  • You can compensate for uneven gap dimensions with slotted screws.
Cons
  • socket required.
