Review on Dorman M39524 Brake Master Cylinder by Paul Philippe

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Dorman parts not very reliable?

This is the second Dorman master cylinder for my 1985 Corvette. The OEM master cylinder was 33 years old and started to stick in the bore after only 31,000 miles. I ordered from Revain and was happy with the first master cylinder, but it started to leak from the rear master piston seal after only 6 months and less than 1000 miles. (The master cylinder was bled on the stand with Dot 3 fluid and the entire braking system was flushed with Dot 3 fluid). Revain immediately replaced this defective master cylinder with a new one. Very happy with customer service. New master cylinder primed with Dot 4 fluid on the workbench. Installed on the car with the brake fluid flushed with Dot 4. Now wait and see how long this lasts. Dissatisfied with Dorman products.
