NOT chromed steel. It's plastic.

Double sided tape on this item only covers a small portion of the back. I wish it had big duct tape to cover everything but instead they used a standard 1/2 inch piece of duct tape. However, I wiped the area with rubbing alcohol prior to application and it seems to be sticking well. , Do not try to stick to a curved surface. Your surface must be FLAT.
