I'm new to fermentation and knew I needed something to make it easy and efficient. I have purchased from Masontops before and have always been happy with their products and customer service. I wasn't sure if $50 would be worth the investment, but it definitely is. If you were to buy all items individually you would pay the same if not more. Items come in a nice sturdy box with foam for protection. So if you don't use the items they stay good and the box is in good condition. labeled with pictures so you can easily see what's inside. The masher is well made and shredded cabbage is very easy to prepare. I've worked by hand and with the tamper and when you put it in a jar it's very easy to make sure it's pressed against the jar. I started with sauerkraut and my jar wasn't full so I used 2 weights to hold my sauerkraut and the pickled tips make it pretty because I don't have to worry about it bubbling up. The second thing I started was pickles made from small cucumbers cut in half. I put these in a liter jar and the weight fits perfectly on top. I can say if you are just starting out this is the way to go as everything is included except glasses and rings and you also get a small recipe book with good information. .Happy fermentation!
