Ideal for powering a 4TB external drive connected to a Roku or Roku Ultra TV

Previously we would connect a 500g hard drive directly to the TV and play videos with the Roku Media Player app viewed. This worked well until we realized we needed a larger hard drive. I bought a 4TB drive to hold all our files but Roku Media Player didn't recognize it. I googled "Hard drive not detected?" and the most common problem was that the TV source couldn't power the drive and so a powered USB hub was needed to provide enough power. I ordered it in the hope that this would solve this problem. The ideal solution. Easy setting. Plug the hub into a power outlet and the other end into the TV's USB port. Connect the hard drive to one of the powered ports on the hub. Works perfectly. Each port has its own on/off switch. Each port has a blue LED that indicates whether the port is on or off, making it easy to see if the port has power. Only minor downside that might be an issue is that the /off buttons are pretty easy to press. Murphy's Law means you won't discover this until after you've settled down to watch a movie. I solved this problem by simply hiding the hub behind the TV so it can't be accidentally touched, but if you have to put it outside just keep that in mind and keep an eye on it. **Update January 2020** After buying one of these, I bought 3 more to use with Roku products. The latest is used with a TV that isn't a Roku TV. I bought a Roku Ultra device and am using this powered USB hub to power my external drive and watch videos through the Roku Media Player app. I am satisfied with this product.
