We've used the OpenMesh line of products for years, but have regretted poor performance, lack of IPv6 support, and other issues. Deploying Ubiquiti products has proven to be much easier, with much better performance and network uptime/range than we ever expected. Of course, IPv6 support worked immediately after installation. In one example, we configured the UAP before mounting, but decided to do some ad hoc testing anyway. With OpenMesh it was virtually impossible for us to get a signal that traveled much further than an outer wall. Thanks to the UAP-AC-M-PRO-US, the signal not only went through the wall, but was also able to communicate with mobile devices in forest areas over 300 meters away. We were also very impressed with the UAP-AC-M-US pairing. Again, we couldn't even set up a 5GHz mesh network with the OpenMesh lineup (the hardware doesn't support it), packet loss was high, and latency easily reached triple digits. Although Ubiquiti's devices do not only work at 5 GHz, packet loss is practically zero and we can transfer data at full wireless speed. We are deeply impressed with this product line and its range of functions.
