No tech support for wireless hotspots

They don't advertise that a mobile app is required if you want to use this as a standalone device. 2 hours into their useless tech support and they never mentioned it even though it was the first thing I told them when I used it. I installed it at 45 feet ready to go now it's boxed up and ready to go back. There is no phone support, only someone to email you links. I work on the street, not on the computer, I get an answer at noon and in the evening. This can take a long time. Eventually they…

Do not recommend in Computers & Accessories

Every Ubiquiti install I've ever done has always resulted in "Well, it kind of works." On one revision, a random manufacturer of a wireless device not right, then the next firmware version works fine, and in another it breaks down. There are currently serious issues with DHCP not working properly. I also have some units that have excellent throughput, but others are slower than molasses in January. You can just visit the support forums to see how bad the heartburn is. Finally, I have quite a…

Great for RVs! in Wireless Access Points

Overall this thing works great. It integrated seamlessly with my AC-PRO with a colossal fast gigabit wireless connection. Wonderful. Cons: 2. It's a lot more than expected. I had to double check the dimensions.2. Omnidirectional only. You cannot add a directional antenna like the regular AC-M.3 model. The reset button broke inside the case and the case is sealed.4. The expansion port does not provide POE5. It is not possible to disable data on the main port, so it only accepts POE. Pros: 1…

Reliable performance, easy to use, solid range

Like many other devices in the Ubiquiti line, this is a solid device that's well worth the investment. However, there are a few pitfalls to be aware of. First, the antenna pattern is predominantly toroidal; This means it's designed to be mounted at a height of around 6 to 8 feet, not necessarily on a tall pole. The higher you mount it, the larger the uncoated donut you'll have underneath. I installed ok. 16ft off the ground and probably a 40ft ring of poor coverage directly below or around it…

Another great Ubiquiti product

I am very happy with this latest addition to my Ubiquiti setup at home. This completes my setup and provides reliable WiFi in my backyard. It's powered by Ubiquiti's PoE EdgeSwitch and I'm using a Unifi controller running Docker on an IntelNUC. My main motivation for the purchase was to improve the outdoor lighting for my UTF8&qid=1540317615&sr=1-4&keywords=ring+battery. Installation was easy and ran for two months with no hiccups or failures. My setup consists of…

Very impressed, Ubiquiti is our top choice for deployment these days.

We've used the OpenMesh line of products for years, but have regretted poor performance, lack of IPv6 support, and other issues. Deploying Ubiquiti products has proven to be much easier, with much better performance and network uptime/range than we ever expected. Of course, IPv6 support worked immediately after installation. In one example, we configured the UAP before mounting, but decided to do some ad hoc testing anyway. With OpenMesh it was virtually impossible for us to get a signal that…

Another Great Unifi Device

I am an IT specialist at a wood supplier. Our workplace is on 7 acres and includes multiple buildings, warehouses, etc. I already use a number of Ubiquiti devices, including an edge router, four Unifi switches, and eight Unifi access points. This is the first access point I've bought for installation. Outside. We placed it on the side of one of our sheds to cover part of the yard and provided wi-fi coverage for storage at the other end of the property. It just got installed and activated today…

Well designed and executed outdoor access point

This is my fourth Unifi access point, although my first outdoor installation. Although the device comes with a 48VDC Gigabit PoE injector, I power the UAP from a separate GbE PoE switch. Hope it holds up to the weather. The mounting hardware is die-cast aluminum and steel, although the access point's housing is plastic. Judging by the photos, the device is installed in a small shed. I used a pointed piece of double pressure treated wood to tilt the AP to the desired coverage area. WiFi RSSI…
