While they work, I've had trouble launching clients from them. They seem to be working well and properly when powering another switch through its SFP. So at this point get the fiber optic version and get the fiber optic cables. For short runs such as home use, multimode duplex is more economical. The simplex versions are said to be better, but that only matters for very long runs, like thousands of feet.
