Review on TJLJ YJ Security Deck Enclosure - Black, US Pat. No. 8,256,819 by Allen Tchida

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I installed it quite normally in my TJ without carpet.

I recently got an 04 TJ as a flood protection vehicle in bad weather to work as a lifeguard. It's a soft top so I wanted some sort of lockable drawer to keep things safe. I stumbled across this and as I was planning on removing the back seat it was perfect for my needs. I pulled out the seat and carpet and installed the box per the instructions. The instructions sucked at times and the pictures were awful so I just had to figure things out. Although it says the box should come with the rug, I had no problem not having one. The sides leaned in a bit, but I don't know if that was due to the lack of carpet or how it should have been anyway. When I added the back plate everything straightened up and was nice and tight. On top of that I bought a floor mat and cut it to size which gave it a nice look and didn't shift for a smoother ride on the items I put on it. In the box I bought some magnetic sensor lights that really light up the box at night. Also, being magnetic, I can easily detach them and use them elsewhere as work lights around the jeep. The box is absolutely silent, with no rumble, ringing, ringing or creaking. I'm very happy with it and I think it looks great. All I had to do was attach the soft Velcro to the underside of the side trays. They can grab the wings and flap them by scratching and flapping them. The soft velcro (loop) made a good buffer and all is well. I used leftover floor mats to make little rugs for them. One note: don't use carpet: the screws holding the sides to the floor weren't fully tightened. I didn't see this as a problem as the instructions actually say not all the screws are needed. I only stopped to show what I put on top of the box which gave me more space to store and use. I added some adjustable rails for tying things down, a 50 caliber can of ammo for dry storage, and a 2.5 gallon canister. It turned out the way I wanted it.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good but not great
