
You need to ground the GPIO0 pin in order to program the ESP8622. This adapter only connects 4 of the 8 pins of the module, so you need to solder an extra wire to this module to make the ESP8622 work in download mode. You should have GPIO0 or all 8 pins pinned instead of 4. Once you've finished the design, you should be fine.
