The only mat my girls love! In a nutshell. They were installed within a week and there were no problems at all. Girls no longer prefer a box, which leads me to believe that all pads are the same. Easy to clean for the occasional broken egg. With 14 divas laying eggs, that's a huge relief. After trying several other pads I settled on this one. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes. I tried paper based biodegradable aspen. they hated her. After a week there was nothing in the aviary but a paper backing. I've tried several varieties of polyethylene mats, similar to those you can rub shoes on. They really hated it. They actually pulled them out and threw them out of the box. Wood shavings and hay were fine, but they ended up in the drawers and disrupted the rolling of the eggs. I even experimented without a nesting doll at all, half the girls liked this option. Then one of them developed a calcium deficiency and her eggs started breaking in that box; This meant I had to take the box off the wall, hose it down, dry it and hang it back up. So frustrating! Very happy to find an option that seems to suit everyone.
