Works with workarounds

available First, my computer is a Dell Inspiron 13-7378 (2-in-1, 7th Gen I5, 256k SSD), firmware February 17th. It has a USB Type-C connector, but there's no further information about the connector in Dell's specs. Forum posters are pretty sure it's a USB 3 port (Inspiron is the budget version of XPS). In short, hub/ethernet ports will work when connected to a USB 3 Type A port. A USB Type C to Type A adapter will work with an external hard drive or thumb drive, but will not with hub/ethernet ports. In this configuration, my computer keeps installing and removing the device. Windows 10 automatically installed RealTek LAN version 10.10 (7/13/16) drivers. The previous browser provided a link to version 10.13 of the drivers. I didn't care. Other Dell owners of this model have mentioned difficulties using the USB Type-C port. That's why I chose this product - it can be plugged into a USB 3 port. The fact that the adapter has another USB 3 port is a bonus. Four stars because it works but not quite as advertised.
