I'll confess I don't have much experience with side cutters but I've had many occasions where I've had to cut various wires, nails and screws. and in this case copper rivets and burrs. I have to say that in the past I've been impressed by having to use bolt cutters, wire cutters or different types of pliers; not everyone was up to the task. But they cut through the rivet rod with little effort on my part. The "twinforce" design seems to make a big difference and the small profile fits in my toolbox. The only thing I probably wouldn't use them for is fencing wire, I have fencing pliers for that. I don't know anything about guitar or banjo strings. The handles feel comfortable and provide a secure grip so it doesn't hurt as much to use them for long periods of time. Yes, I would recommend them to a friend.
