This forstner bit has slightly weird geometry… it doesn’t have a flat cutting bottom but rather leaves a groove on the circumference as well as a divot at the centre. It’s also not that sharp. I was able to get a good outcome by punching a pilot, then running the bit backwards to cut the fibers before drilling the hole. When I ran the bit forwards initially I got a lot of tear out.
