Review on Funn Ripper Mountain Bike Clipless Pedal Set: Rocker Clip Mechanism, SPD Compatible, 9/16-inch CrMo Axle - The Ultimate Cycling Upgrade by Richard Carroll

I have two sets of these pedals. They replaced the SPD mountain pedals on my Hightower and my wife's Tallboy. They can get stuck much easier than the Shimano pedals they replaced. The platform offers excellent support and works great when you're not connected. It's great to have a solid platform in risky situations where you're trying to snap back in thanks to the spring-loaded seesaw mechanism. Fabulous! The release is great, very regulated and there have been no early releases. My shoes are a size 49 and my wife is a size 39 so they fit a variety of sizes and weights well. Depending on the type of shoe, the pins may not touch the sole. Flatter-soled shoes work best, while pens minimize floatation. Pins or not, the pedals work very well, my wife doesn't use pins and that's what she likes best. These are the best pedals we have used. Now that we've switched, I don't want to be without them anymore. A Few Words About Funn Customer Service: I had the opportunity to speak to the Funn customer service team and they exceeded my expectations in the way they handled my situation. They support their products and are very responsive. Longevity wasn't an issue, nor did I expect it to be. We ride PNW from time to time, wet and muddy, so prior to installation I disassembled the pedals to treat them with my lube of choice. The rubber o-rings that seal the axle to the pedal body were fairly dry and needed a light coating of IMO lube to help seal out water and dirt and prevent o-ring wear. You can perform a quick service directly on your bike. Unscrew the cap on the outboard end of the pedal, 6mm hex and remove the 8mm nut and the pedal body slides to the right of the axle. Clean and re-lubricate and you're done. Extends the life of internal parts quickly, easily and reliably with regular maintenance. Funn Rippers eliminated the worry about missing clips and really improved our overall riding experience. Highly recommended!
