Review on πŸ’‘ FLIR VP50-2 Non-Contact Voltage Detector with Light, Vibration, Beeper Alarms, and LED Flashlight by Jim Ledbetter

I find it suitable, but the high sensitivity mode is useless to me.

Please watch the video. This sensor does what I wanted, which is to save me from the 120 volt tingling, but I found that the high sensitivity mode turned off just walking around the house. Not to mention getting closer to the wires in this mode. I'd say it COULD be my Wi-Fi and WEMO switches, but I doubt it. I shouldn't let that kind of tension hang in the air. These devices are capacitive pairs and THEY are part of the substrate or insulator. That said, it's likely that charging will happen as you walk around your home, which has AC, WIFI, and likely appliances. However, the device does not need to be as sensitive to detect this, and the device must reject false alarms using electronic filters. However, this device works very well for me in normal mode. This saves me from electrocution and saves me from connecting an AC meter to ground! In normal mode or low sensitivity mode, the device works normally. The tip is illuminated by an arrow, and the device vibrates when in the stress zone. The device saves you from non-working GFI sockets. If the GFI socket does not turn on, you must remove it from the wall to measure! This device, even in low sensitivity mode, makes it so you can see power even if the GFI switch is broken and the outlet won't turn on. If your bathroom vanity is (just a guess) on the same circuit as your basement lights, you won't get electrocuted that way. The light at the top is nice and bright and the device vibrates. It also has a light at the top that's always on so you can see what you're doing! The end of the flashlight is nice and bright, but also very diffuse. More than enough to look into an electrical switch box, but also something you wouldn't want to use as an external flashlight. You won't be able to see far! Overall it works perfectly and will save me from my old DIY house (the previous owner's DIY)! There is a star deduction because the high sensitivity mode is useless for me.

Pros
  • Voltage tester
Cons
  • Some little things
