Summary: Rivet nuts are really useful in two situations: 1) you can't get to the back to install and/or tighten/loosen the nut, 2) you want to cut into material that is too thin to to be threaded directly. Use them with the Amjoy Rivet Tool below. Observation: This list is confusing at first but after looking at the different rivets there is a basic rivet size as well as other sizes. I ordered size 10-24 which is the main size and contains 50 pieces but also contains other sizes. So YOU chose the size that you basically need and ordered it. Compared to other offers that basically give you the maximum of the smallest size and the minimum of the largest size. Recommendations: 1) The three main materials of rivet nuts are steel (carbon), stainless steel and aluminum. Everyone has advantages and problems. Stainless steel is the strongest and most corrosion resistant, but more difficult to install correctly. Aluminum is lighter than steel and offers slightly better corrosion resistance as well as lower overall strength. 2) As with any new tool, there can be a slight learning curve. 3) The tighter the hole, the less likely the rivet nut will loosen and rotate freely. 4) Invest in a decent rivet nut tool. 5) Assess whether the sizes included fit your application, for example this kit has a total of 320 pieces, 150 SAE and 170 metric. With the SAE set, the two smallest sizes make up 59% of the set. So if you don't need that many small sizes, it might be best to see what else is available. On the metric side, the two smallest (M4 and M5) make up 65% of the set. Pros: Stainless steel for good strength and corrosion resistance. Cons: Cost (the price per piece is higher, but you get the size you choose.) Bottom line: $17 for a 107-piece set ($0.16 avg. each) with those 5 stars.
