Review on πŸ”’ Rok Hardware 25 Pack Soft Close Damper for Cabinet Doors | Compact & Polished Nickel | Hinge SCD103 by Jon Brazil

Poor design and cheap materials make them useless.

These things are made of plastic. The size of the mounting hole will determine the size of bolt you can use, but it is not enough to securely mount the shock. Because of the angle at which the bolt must enter, only one bolt can be attached to the shock instead of two. I tried four different screws, three Phillips and one stainless steel square. All four heads were destroyed, even the square disc. None of them worked, although I pre-drilled a pilot hole in the cabinet's crossbar before installing it. They only allow one screw per device. That's not enough to keep him safe. The last bolt I tried was all the way in, but the shock was still wobbly after installation. I tried tightening the screw a bit more but the screw broke instead due to the diameter of the screw. The worst design I've ever seen. If they cost 5 cents each, they still wouldn't be worth the price. I wanted to retrofit the entire hinge but there isn't one that fits my cabinet style. It seemed like the best option, but cheap materials and poorly thought-out designs make it useless. Buy something else.
