Small but robust in a case Hardware

Bought a set of 25 for large solid wood cabinets. After reading the reviews I wasn't sure if one damper would be enough for each closet door, but after installation and several adjustments only one per closet door was needed. You are close enough with a smooth transition and greatly improved function, no more clapping. My husband was able to install all 25 in less than 1 hour. There were some changes made to some of the cabinets after installation but overall we think this was a much improvedโ€ฆ

No more slamming closet doors! ๐Ÿ˜

Very happy with these dampers. Not sure how long they will last. the time will show. We had a kitchen remodel and I kept some of my old cabinets. All of the new cabinets closed smoothly, which was amazing, but my old ones slammed shut hard and I didn't want to mess with changing hinges. I found these and decided to give it a try. Took a little to install but overall they work fantastic! There are different ways to install them. I mostly installed them in the top corners, but in some cases I had

Poor design and cheap materials make them useless.

These things are made of plastic. The size of the mounting hole will determine the size of bolt you can use, but it is not enough to securely mount the shock. Because of the angle at which the bolt must enter, only one bolt can be attached to the shock instead of two. I tried four different screws, three Phillips and one stainless steel square. All four heads were destroyed, even the square disc. None of them worked, although I pre-drilled a pilot hole in the cabinet's crossbar beforeโ€ฆ

Weak point: hinges

These shock absorbers are too weak. If you are wondering what is the difference between this ($2/unit) and the $3.50/unit damper, see the attached photo. The housing surrounding the piston is made of chrome-plated plastic. The piston's stroke length is also quite disappointing, resulting in the damper engaging the cabinet door at a much more acute angle (about 20-25 degrees) when the door is closing. not giving enough time to resist the momentum of the closing door. I had to tighten the maximum

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • No Automatic

Great concept, easy to install, poor materials make them ineffective

As our cabinets were manufactured and installed before those slow closing mechanisms became popular and the doors were always slamming I thought they were perfect and within a few days they were. They were really easy to install - I think it took me about an hour to install them all - seemed to work well and did what they were supposed to do. For about a week. The whole point of these devices is to prevent closet doors from slamming. But since they're plastic, you have to be careful with themโ€ฆ

let's make noise! My kitchen is too quiet.

The kitchen was recently remodeled, including the paint cabinets. Anyone who has ever painted a closet knows how much time and effort it takes. With this new coat of paint, I definitely don't want the paint peeling off a slammed closet door. I was originally looking for these little round glue on bumpers when I came across this piece of hardware. I never knew about it before. At โ‚ฌ2 a piece I think it's relatively cheap. I no longer worry about someone slamming my closet and ruining my drawingโ€ฆ
