I used a cheap plastic siphon pump to pump gas into canisters. I've also used it to degas my snow blower and storage generator. It really wasn't very efficient. I decided to try this Plumbing Siphon Pro after reading the description and reviews. The siphon bottle is made of durable rubber. Both ends are machined from heavy aluminum and secured with strong metal springs. It also comes with a very thick 8ft clear PVC hose. There is also a strong brass coupling at the end to which an additional hose can be attached if required. The brass coupler also acts as a weight to hold the hose to the bottom of the gas tank. I tested this siphon on my snow blower that is ready for summer storage. I inserted a clear PVC hose into the siphon bulb. There is an arrow on the siphon bulb. It should be pointing down toward the empty can and the clear PVC end with a brass connector goes into the container you want to degas. . A few clicks on the bulb and you will see the gas rise through the transparent PVC tube. You just have to make sure the siphon ball is below the level of liquid you want to remove. This keeps the siphon functional. He removed the gas very quickly and without mess. All in all, this is a quality, well made siphon that I should have bought years ago.
