Good as gold! for gaskets

Perfect for 77ft Corvette with GM 5.7L V8 350 small block engine I replaced the original 1977 GM cork gasket which was crumbling and looking like a sieve leaked. Even a small amount of oil spilled over the engine looks like a ton. Remember to clean the tappets/valves of any visible deposits and dirt/debris while you have the covers off. Parts cleaner dissolves dirt well and evaporates quickly. I used a rag and a flat head screwdriver to clean the old gaskets before installing. You want the valve cover mating surface to be nice and clean for new gaskets. I used Shop-Vac and rags to vacuum and wipe up any leftover crumbs from the old cork pad and globs of grease. If the valve covers are not new, use a small hammer to knock out any indentations in the metal around the bolt holes of overtightened covers before installing the gaskets. I applied a thin coat of 3M o-ring glue to the underside of the valve covers to hold them in place during installation. Don't overdo it with 3M Gasket Adhesive or whatever you use, Fel-Pro Gaskets will do the job of sealing and the adhesive will hold them in place during installation - less is more. When reinstalling, don't overtighten the bolts, then check for leaks, and if there are no leaks, you installed it correctly. Fel-Pro is worth its weight in gold! Tip: The best time for old valve covers is to degrease/soak in Evaporust and repaint before installing and reinstalling new gaskets. .
