I installed this relay as part of an onboard air compressor. When I flipped the control switch, the relay actuated and latched as intended. I wanted to turn off the control switch and that's when the problem occurred. At this point the relay is closed! My compressor ran constantly on 12V from the battery. The pressure switch couldn't do anything and I couldn't turn it off. Luckily (as expected) I was ready to pull the fuse out of the compressor to keep it from blowing. I had my doubts after it arrived. SOMEWHERE on the body it doesn't say "40A". The socket and plug are also unusable. They are the wrong size for a 40A circuit. I ended up using my own wiring to prevent a possible fire. Be careful people! I ended up going to O'Reily and bought an OEM 40A relay. It says 40A 12V. Don't waste your time and money with this junk. Finally, yes, my compressor and wiring were rated for 40A. I would post pics but the relay is melted plastic and stinks so it was (properly) recycled. Conclusion: Always install fuses. Always check your equipment.
