I installed this to increase the speed on a laptop that I've already upgraded to an SSD. did all of this only to find out it had a 1300mhz dual core processor lol. Of course, increasing the RAM from 4GB to 12GB (dual slot motherboard) was great, but it didn't work because the AMD processor sucks on this laptop. Since they are shrink-wrapping the processors, I'll have to replace the motherboard for about $45 and get a new AMD processor with AT LEAST 4 cores, but I'll see if it supports 8. The reason I'm saying all this is because your type and volume of RAM, hard drive type (at least SSD or hybrid recommended), and processor type, size, and speed will ultimately determine how fast your computer will run. I would hate it if someone bought this RAM, plugged it in, made sure the computer read it (in the System Information menu) and then found that their computer wasn't any faster than me BUT blamed the RAM stick for that was that there were no changes. . You want your system to always have around 10-15% of your RAM idle for a productive machine. Before I added this 8GB DDR3 stick, the laptop was idling with almost 50% memory and nothing but background processes running. Now it's about 20%, which is quite enough for what I'm doing with it.
