Review on Lansky C Sharp Hunting Knife Sharpening Tools by Adam Martinez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great little tool to keep in your kitchen drawer or backpack.

I now have 3 of these Lansky sharpeners. One, the Blade Medic, has a 22.5 degree fixed angle carbide and ceramic sharpener, plus a diamond rod for sharpening the tines and lives in my survival knife sheath/backpack. I also bought a Quad Sharp Polygon Carbide tool and a C-Sharp Polygon Ceramic tool, both of which support 17, 20, 25 and 30 degree angles. They live in a kitchen drawer and sharpen everything from a chef's knife to my lawnmower blades. Yes indeed. Some information about me. My grandfather was a carpenter. My father was a good carpenter. I grew up with tools and have carried a pocket knife since I was 10 years old. I was taught to use a whetstone as a child and inherited my father's collection of whetstones along with a leather belt. I can set up and sharpen a knife to shave with. But a sharpening stone takes time and skill. The bar also houses a workbench and oil. What do you do when you're 25 miles from the wilderness? With these in your pocket or backpack, even a novice person can quickly sharpen a knife that is probably 90-95% sharper than an experienced person and a whetstone. And that's probably enough for most people most of the time. These tools are quick and easy to learn and use. They are small, light and inexpensive. I personally love her and without her everywhere. I can pinch my pocket knife for a minute or so every minute or two while waiting for a cup of coffee to be brewed. What is the best sharpener? The ones you actually use!

Pros
  • 4 sharpening angles (17º, 20º, 25º and 30º)
