Our Accord had an intermittent starting problem where it sometimes started fine and sometimes took a few tries. I thought it was the battery. Firstly, because the old one showed undervoltage. Replacing the battery did not fix the problem. Next, I replaced the original starter with this Irontree block. I just did this today on 09/12/2021.1. Raise the car as high as possible. They want more space or an elevator. Removing the original starter wasn't that bad. It is helpful to watch an online video to see how the connectors disconnect and where the screw heads are located. It passed quickly and I was optimistic. Putting in the new starter was a nightmare. This was made more difficult by working the back in tight quarters. The only problem I attribute to the Irontree starter was adding loose washers and lock washers to the power connector. This made assembly more complicated/difficult, but in my opinion it's not worth deducting a star. I spent about half an hour trying to get a shorter bolt. It was rough when I awkwardly held onto the engine. After a while I gave up and removed the motor. Even with the engine off, the bolt would not fire. The thread in the mounting hole is damaged!2. Be very careful not to damage the soft aluminum threads! I was very happy. I had a cheap set of taps and dies lying around, never used. It had a tap that was the correct metric size and I could turn it with a very small wrench. After that, the shorter screw went in relatively easily.3. Thread M10x1.25. Hope you don't need it! A few more random tips.4. I separated the smaller cable from the larger one by squeezing the terminal latch on the opposite side of the cable with needle nose pliers. Disconnecting these wires makes them much easier to remove when removing and replacing the motor.5. I used a rubber band to attach a long bolt to the new motor so the bolts end up in the mounting hole. This eliminates the later blind insertion of the bolt into the hole. When I had to start the bolt, I broke the rubber band and just started it.6. I used a nylon tie down strap to hold the rubber boot in place while I installed the cable, various washers and nuts. It was still PITA, but at least I could see it. After the cable was attached I cut the tape and reattached the boot.7. Be careful not to damage the plastic fasteners when tightening the 12mm cable nut. I didn't break mine, but I was definitely careful.8. My work didn't require me to remove any other brackets, rails, etc. I had to bend the sheet metal wire retention tab back into what appeared to be the right place so I could connect the wire clamp. It really was bent in the wrong place. This time I was lucky to have small hands. If you have gorilla arms, it will only complicate this job. The new engine started well the first time, with no odd noises or drama. While the car started on the first try every time. It's early days so I'll update this if that fails. At the moment this beautiful piece seems to have solved the problem for a very small price. If it lasts, I've probably saved at least $500! Replaces the starter update from 09/12/2021/2021/28/2021 - ran flawlessly every time so far, without any strange noises or drama. Update 01/01/2021 - still works fine
