I came across Reidel glassware on a cruise and did a wine tasting where I poured the same wine into different glasses. Also known as a tannin tamer, this glass really helps remove the tannin flavor present in dark red wines. Like any crystal, they're a little easier to break than thick, not-so-versatile glasses, but if you're spending that much I hope you're looking after your belongings. The sommelier said never to use soap to wash glasses, but the website refutes this, and they are much prettier to look at and drinkable if washed well with soap and water. You can polish them once in a while by holding them over the steam of a boiling pot of water and using lint-free glasses and they'll really shine, but for normal use, a little Dawn and water will do. Wash them immediately after use. . They form a dark red ring around the stem and if you have small hands, peeling them will be difficult.
