I use this cutter when I need to cut bowls for spoons from hard, dry wood. I still prefer to use traditional kerfs on almost all spoons I carve, but I've encountered some good but extremely hard mangoes and ironwoods that I wouldn't risk my good kerfs with. This drill did its job well. It leaves a nice 40 grit sandpaper-like finish, at least at slow speeds on my pedal lathe. Even with these rough results, the surfaces are quickly cleaned with small grinding wheels. This tool does exactly what I want it to do.
