Review on ATDIAG OBD2 Scanner: Enhanced Universal Car Code Reader - Diagnostic Scan Tool for All OBD II Protocol Vehicles Since 1996 by Mike Starling

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Multiple applications are possible, I only chose one.

I used this to reset a faulty thermostat code after replacing the thermostat. I was a little confused when I scanned the QR code on the packaging and instructions. I had to re-read the instructions a couple of times to judge which application should work. I had a list of apps on my Android after the phone sent me to a scanned website. It didn't quite redirect me to Google Play. I ended up reading the descriptions on the web page and then typing in the general search I've put together, hopefully my experience will save time. Try the Dashcommand app before you buy it. Although, as I said, there were others to choose from. I know the ability to keep it connected and see the state changes in real time. It's really awesome. What's particularly cool is that you don't have to walk around on the cables around your legs when driving. It uses Wi-Fi BUT I will say I don't use it often because I feel like seeing the effects in real time when the car is in motion would be a distraction. If I was serious about improving my performance and fuel economy, paying for the Pro version would probably help. I didn't do it and had no plans for the future. The unit cleared my p0128 trouble code as expected and accurately displayed RPM as the car changed with a slight delay. I used this on an internal daily driver. There were other interesting facts that I didn't know, the free application can show the car's journey step by step, it can also log the current fuel consumption. I was definitely impressed. It took me a while to find the app I was looking for, and then I uninstalled the others I suspected. I now only use this when I need something to diagnose small check engine lights or to clear codes after checking them.

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Very Expensive
