Review on GEARWRENCH 12 Piece Metric 12 Point XL X-Beam Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set - Model 85888 by Daryle Grove

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An inexpensive ratchet/wrench at an even higher price.

At first I thought the X-Bends were a gimmick, but due to their design, they offer better handling and comfort. The key and ratchet ends are so girth that it can be difficult to work in tight spaces, but that's not surprising given the price. They were intended to be direct competitors to store-bought brands, but with the goal of replacing snap-ons. The snap-on tools are much better in the way they are shaped, but they are prohibitively priced. I've used this ratchet/wrench combo on my lifted Jeep XJ and haven't had that much space issues so I think they're a solid buy. If you don't have the money or don't work the car every day, buy these and feel the satisfaction of knowing you have a lifetime guarantee that you can train in any Sears just like the Craftsman. ;)

Pros
  • STRENGTH: Manufactured from alloy steel for increased strength and longer tool life.
Cons
  • Not sure.
