F150 XLT 1997 All connections and soldering conveniently in your living room. They took it to the truck, plugged it in and everything healed. Super practical solution. The only problem is that the dash light pinout was one pin further to the right. After realizing that the new head unit doesn't dim with the backlight, and after some testing, I realized that the pin needs to be moved one spot to the left. It's not overly difficult to operate but does require some effort as the plastic mechanism holding the pins in place takes some understanding to come loose. I was able to rearrange the contacts without damaging anything. I would not recommend this unless the installer has a working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting or is unfamiliar with the vehicle's electrical systems. Maybe I have a bad block. I do not know. But I'm glad I was able to find out.
