Review on Cisco-Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch: Fast and Reliable Networking Solution for Small Offices by Angelo Forrest

This Linksys switch is a basic networking device used in home networks and large businesses. It does what it should and does it well. No configuration or setup, just plug and play. I have several of these and have never had to touch them once installed on my network. There is a simple switch; no port filtering, no protocol filtering, no interference filtering. Some high-end switches have these features, but they end up just slowing down the network unless they are more powerful. Those who need these features should not consider this switch or any other device in this price range. It will only slow down your network, use an enterprise solution from HP, Cisco or similar. I would highly recommend it to 99% of home and small business users looking to buy this. For IT pros or network administrators, I would look at either a gigabit switch or something more advanced. On larger networks with more than 200 users, installing ten of these will increase latency and slow down your network speed. I'm an IT manager and these are great for small standalone devices, but don't build or manage your networks with these devices. They are asking for trouble in the future. Back to 99% of users, this device is perfect for you. I feel compelled to share my technical advice with people in my profession who might purchase this switch.
