It works and that's all it has to do.

Do yourself a favor, no matter what car you want to fit this air intake in, buy something cheap like this kit. Don't spend a few hundred dollars on those K&N "cold air" kits or those overpriced automakers' "performance" intakes. All you buy is a piece of pipe with a filter on it. You may read in some articles or hear from some "car experts" that you should only buy the expensive ones and the reason they are so expensive is because all the research and development goes into testing these and others. these people are stupid. Most modern vehicles are perfectly capable of handling cold air/short air intakes without the need for readjustment. Imagine cars being perfectly capable of driving all the way to the top of Pikes Peak, then descending into Death Valley and adjusting to maintain a stoichiometric mix. If a vehicle needs to be retuned due to the addition of a cold air intake, it will need to be retuned, whether you bought it cheap or expensive. Generally, you can just flush your money down the toilet by buying an insanely expensive kit. This short Vortec air intake does the job and comes at a decent price. It's not exactly "premium" amazing quality, but it doesn't have to be. The kit includes everything you need to get rid of the original airbox and set up the air intake. It does its job well and works flawlessly. Things might require a bit of elbow grease or a little tweaking of one of the included parts, but there's nothing extensive or a deal breaker. Most people familiar with working on their vehicles will do it in under 30 minutes. If you want to change the filter to another company of your choice, you already have the system set up and it's very easy to change the filter. You also get a nicer intake sound as the stock airbox doesn't muffle the sound of the engine sucking in air. Whether you're buying this for the LM7, LQ4, or an LS replacement, just get something cheap that way, even if it means something isn't perfect, or you have to spend 2 minutes and a small swap. All of those air intakes are a glorified piece of pipe with a cone filter on the end, don't splurge on those things.
