I've been using it for about a month now and every time I get it I like it better. Clear, bright, powerful, easy to use. Out of curiosity, I went to a large sporting goods store whose name begins with the letter "C" to compare it to more expensive (or just more expensive) glass. We ended up comparing Nikon Monarch 5 10x42 ($329) with Swarovski SLC HD 10x42 ($1800) and Vortex Razor HD 10x42 ($1000). I had to compare smaller binoculars as neither Swaro nor Vortex had comparable 20x56s and had to keep apples on apples. In my opinion the Swaro was a little better, mainly in eye relief, the Vortex was maybe a little darker but it's really hard to tell. After switching between the three several times, I didn't feel any significant differences. My eyes felt quite comfortable on all three, clarity, brightness and image sharpness were almost the same. Undoubtedly the Swaros are very, very good, but I think you have to be a true optician to understand why the extra cost is worth it, except maybe the psychological one. I could afford Swarovski, but why pay 5x more for such a small improvement? I was and still am very surprised. But I can say I am VERY happy with Nikon now because I saved so much money and got a great lens.
