Worked like a charm! I've changed many struts with old school handheld compressors over the years. Never had a crash but they flexed at extreme angles during use which I thought were extreme. Not willing to drop nearly a thousand on a factory rack-mount compressor, I tried this one, which seemed a little safer to me. In practice it feels safer. Of course, you need to be careful with such devices. But in any case, he compressed the spring with ease. The large threaded rod flexed even with medium-sized Toyota 4Runner springs, but not as much as the smaller spring compressors. In use, you must "sew" the hooks into the coil springs from both the top and bottom. And due to the simple design of the round coil spring, the hooks will never be 100% even around the coils. Therefore, expect some bumps in the device and a slight flexing of the shaft when compressing the spring. Be sure to tighten just enough to loosen the top nut (no need to over-compress the coils). Finally, be sure to wear safety goggles, and in my case I used some high-temp brake grease on the threaded rod. and an air impact wrench that did the compression job quickly. In just a few hours, I completely assembled both A-pillars on my car. And I used my sweet time cleaning and inspecting the various suspension components for damage, wear, etc.
