Review on 🐠 Seachem Tidal Power Filter - 35 Gallon Fish Tank Filter for Large Aquariums by Kayla Walton

Lots of marketing gimmicks

After reading the rave reviews for Tidal, I immediately wanted to buy it. A Tidal filter might fit in a 55 or 110, but the Tidal 35 compartment is too small. They even speak of its qualities as something of a spacious media tray. Tidal 35 has no space for media. From the outside, the compartment appears larger, but once you remove the top, the space inside the tiny white removable compartment is not only small, it also has curves that make it difficult to add your own sponge media. successfully, and their sponge base is very thin. One of the reasons I bought it is the removable media compartment. Who cares if the media compartment is removable, if feces and larger particles fall into the filter compartment below, you still need to remove it to effectively remove debris, making the removable compartment useless. Another reason I bought this is the inboard motor/impeller already making a repetitive noise and I do NOT have sand, I have big gravel. Also, there is no inlet pipe so you can't add a sponge pre-filter and food can be sucked up by the skimmer. Most of the perceived sales benefits I've experienced have turned into negatives for me. I'm not even trying to return it, it has already been used and would be too messy and a headache. I just bought a Whisper IQ 20 and added my own media files. The compartment is huge, the pump is 135 GPH like Tidal and has a suction tube. I deserve it for admiring what everyone is doing and not just exploring for myself.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Good, but not great
