Review on πŸ”§ IRWIN Performance Series Square Screwdriver SQ#3 | 6" Durable and Efficient by George Cochran

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good quality and nice touch

Basically I took this screwdriver and no others mainly to test the grip. I have both a standard Craftsman and a few Craftsman Pros in my toolbox, as well as a few cheap models from Harbor Freight. In comparison, traditional craft tools have hard resin handles that are molded for better grip. The Craftsman Pro grip has a more heavily rubberized grip, but still features a plus shape design to provide deep grip lugs. The cheap models from Harbor Freight have almost square handles and look like rubber, but aren't as handy as the Craftsman Pro. However, with no grip protrusions, the grip material is very rubbery and grippy, with several different patterns. The only thing I didn't like about IRWIN is that the spot where the name/logo is is actually slick, hard plastic, so it's not grippy in that spot. I would have preferred if they ditched the logo and added an easy-grip grip all the way around. The tip is well finished with no signs of roughness, defects etc. The metal feels solid and has a matte finish. as shiny chrome. Overall I'd rate the quality of the Craftsman Pro and say that it feels grippier but perhaps doesn't offer as much potential for overall grip as there aren't any dimples or ridges to really sink your hands into. when you need a ton of torque.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
