. I love this mortise lock. But the instructions leave a lot to be desired! Here are some helpful tips for those of you following these instructions. The first thing you need to do is a factory reset. This is explained in Step I (as in "i" wrote this review) **** Step I *** (Factory Reset) (1) Press and hold the "RESET" button on the inner panel. (2) Enter the default master code "0000”, press "lock key”, press "0”, press "lock key”. (3) Now press the "lock button" AGAIN, the cylinder should extend and then retract again (i.e. the bolt will activate) ***** Now you can go to step "B" and change the master code* *** * ***** Follow step "C" and enter the user code. ********** And make sure you REMOVE the default user code "1234" in step EI and you have two such locks. and fiddled with the first installation for an hour to program it. Finally (luckily) I read the "i" step and did a FACTORY RESET because if you just hit the "reset button" like it tells you, you'll probably get worse! Next thing I don't like. They include a large strike plate and all my doors use the smaller 1" wide and 2-1/4" high so I had to hollow out either the larger strike plate. OR buy the smaller ones (1 inch x 2-1/4 feet) that my door jambs are designed for. and the only place I can find them is here at Revain, and they're around $5-$6 at the time of this review.
