Good knife for the price

We are on our first trip through the jungles of South America and this machete serves us well. We're deep in the forests of South America in search of a new species of frog and have used it to slice through branches, specimens and vines along the way. Much better than gerberas! In fact, I may be writing this review after hacking enough disk space to get satellite coverage for the internet. Jokes aside, here's the review. I have many Dalstrong products and either meet them or miss them. I have this style of knife in a 10" Shogun which is probably my favorite Dalstrong and also previously had a 14" Cimitar in the Gladiator series. Pros: - Sharp out of the box where it should be. Blunt near ridge <- expected - Generally good fit and finish - Pakka wood fits and finishes well, blade has been sharpened evenly, steel quality seems good so far - Decent response for precise cutting of large/long cuts. Much better than the 14" Cimitar. It's not a survival knife/machete, it's a custom made butcher knife with absurd dimensions. Thing is huge! - Considering the size of the blade, the weight distribution is what you would expect. . Bad: - The edge of the Granton is made with two different angles (see photo with underlining). IMHO it's lazy/cheap. Functionally just as good? Probably. Looks worse? Absolutely. Minus 1 star, someone in the kitchen a 14". Knives? Probably no. Will most people prefer 12" or 10" knives (Gladiator or Shogun)? Maybe, but who the heck doesn't want a machete-sized knife in the kitchen! That thing is huge! Okay, back in the jungle to find the clue frog.
